Here’s how to make screenshots in comfort and in no time with VLC Media Player.
Steps to make screenshots on Windows and Mac with VLC Media Player
1. First, make sure you have activated the shortcut keys, which are indispensable for this process.
On Windows, you can check it by pressing Shift + S. If you have a Mac, press Command + Alt + S. Similarly, you can also use the Mac’s own video menu by clicking on the Video tab located at the top of the screen; then selecting the Capture option .
(To change keyboard shortcuts: Preferences > Interface > Hotkeys )
Select the folder in which you want to save the screenshot of the screen. If you want to save some time, choose a default save location (go to Tools > Preferences, Video is on the left, or VLC > Preferences if you have the Mac version). Otherwise, you can define the destination folder for the capture operations you make.
2. If you have not yet installed VLC Media Player ( Windows Mac ), this is the right time to do so.
3. Set the capture: open VLC, select Media , then Streaming . Then click on Capture Device and Desktop . Click Next, then check that the capture address matches your screen. If the dialog box is empty, write screen: //.
4. Select where you want to save the file when created. Check that the file in question is selected, then click Add (to the right of the screen). You can now also change the file format to save it. Then, use the drop-down menu to complete the operation and click on Scream . VLC Media Player will proceed to capture the screen.
Once you’ve made the screenshot of the screen, you can send it to anyone you like, as you would with any other media file. You can upload it to social, share it on the blog, send it by email, or even paste it into a text message.
